This is a very well-built mounting system. The only problem I find is that there is too much air trapped within the suction cup.
When parked in full sunlight, this allows the trapped air to heat and expand, thus breaking the suction and causing the entire mounted unit to fall to the vehicle floor … not a good thing.
I don’t find any way to adjust the “throw” on the suction unit, so I’ll contact the manufacturer to see if the particular RAM unit I purchased is defective.

This thing is bomber. Very well-made. Solid. Functional. The window suction pad really does hold incredibly well (it is big and has a lever that locks it into place – it does not use those wimpy little clear suction cups!).
The ultimate test will be in a month when I take it on an expedition in Africa. If it turns out that the suction pad does not hold over days of heat and bumps, I will just screw the base right into the dashboard.

I like this product because it is adaptable for different bases and mounts. The suction cup holds tight and all the parts are high quality. It adjusts to different positions easily and the holder for the unit fits tightly so it won’t bounce out.
