I balked at the price, after-all I don’t really need a GPS, I only bought it because Amazon had such a great price on it that I couldn’t resist having one any longer. Thought it could be a hoot… didn’t think I’d really use it. So I bought a couple of other less sturdy mounts and ended up spending about $20.00; they worked OK but I was always afraid the GPS would fall off. These mounts hang the GPS by its ball socket and would be OK on a bicycle.
The RAM mount is not only more expensive but it’s bigger and bulkier… I was concerned about how it would look on my Harley bagger. But after playing around with the other mounts, I came to really like having the GPS on the motorcycle and wanted a sturdier platform that didn’t vibrate and would make it easier to read. That’s why I broke down and bought the RAM mount.
The mount proved me wrong about how it would look… it looks great. The mount does everything I wanted plus it really provides superior adjustability so I can position the GPS exactly where I want it. It holds the the GPS securely yet allows easy dismounting so I can still use it in the car.
The quality of the RAM mount is five star and will serve me for many years to come. If I ever decide to hang something else on the motorcycle, RAM will be the only mount I’ll buy.
