  1. This item can’t lock any position. The flexible arm move all around & the aux. plug unplugs itself if you hit a bump or go around a sharp curve. Sometimes the plug just works it way out of socket and the gps starts using battery backup without knowing.

  2. This is actually a good product. The bar shown in the picture is very sturdy, but flexible (with some muscle). Depending on how you position the arm, with the GPS device attached, the whole contraption can get top/side heavy, which will cause the plug to come loose in the socket. My car has kind of cheap plastic build quality where the outlet is, so it might be a little less “well-anchored” than it would be in other cars (I have a Saab). It would be nice if this came with a chord for powering your GPS. I wouldn’t use it because mine has an FM receiver charging cable, but I could see people wanting a cable built-in. If you have a manual transmission, take note of where your outlet is, as this could get in the way of the position of the gearshift in certain gears. Overall, it’s a good alternative. I’ve had it for about a week.
