Received one of the Garmin speech recognition remotes as part of the Garmin 885 package. Immediately used it in a rental car in a trip to Dallas. Worked perfectly. Unfortunately, I left the remote on the steering wheel in the rental car,and it never resurfaced. Bought another one from Garmin (through Amazon). This one didn’t work at all. No indication of any kind that it was alive. Tried changing the battery, but that didn’t help. Unfortunately, again, I didn’t test the new one immediately and did not save the packaging, so I have no idea whether I’ll be able to exchange. So, the moral is…. test it as soon as you get it, and be prepared for it to be DOA.

GPS use is a pain when you have to enter the addresses onto GPS. The Garmin Nuvi GPS that utilize speech recognition with this remote are worth consideration. This unit makes it so easy to change addresses or look for items without having to “pre-plan”. Verbal instructions reset the GPS on the fly, absolutely fabulous!!!

The Garmin Speech Reconition Remote works very well. The only thing that I can recommend is for Garmin to enable the nuvi-885T GPS with a voice activation icon or button directly on the unit, or change the strap on the remote to fit as a wrist watch. I have trouble forgetting to remove the remote for a car rental, when in a hurry to return the car. I have never had any luck from a car rental company in returning a remote, after I contact them.

Voice recognition with my Nüvi 885T is amazingly accurate. It is easy to use and I like the adjustable strap.
