I got this when I got my nuvi760 because I have a deep dashboard and figured (rightly) that the supplied mount would be too short. It was easy to bend the goose neck and use the swivel neck to get just the configuration I needed. So I THINK this is a fine piece of problem-solving equipment. But I never did actually mount it because I suddenly realized I had a shallow covered compartment in my dashboard (I never used for anything) that is ideal for putting the bean-baq mount into and keeping it perfectly stable. Ah well! I’m still sure the ARKON is a good deal for the money.

Excellent adhesion (suction) and adjustability. Bounces pretty badly when car is in motion. Not my favorite, but works in a pinch. I also use the standard windshield mount (iffy reliability) and bean bag (always reliable.)

  3. Vernon Mount says:

For distant sloping windshields the garmin mount puts the GPS too far away- too small, too hard to use the touchscreen.

Pros: went on smoothly, has not come off in hot VA sunlight, unlike the Garmin mount. Brought the GPS close to the steering wheel.

Cons: The bottom of the GPS had to rest on the dashboard or A/C vent, or the GPS bounced around on the end of the goose neck. Bending the gooseneck made this easy. WIthout anything else, the GPS is now steady and easy to use.

Gooseneck is limited in the sharpness of the angle it can be bent, so on a very steeply sloping windshield the suction cup has to be high on the windshield to allow the gooseneck room to curve, and the suction cup ends up within the field of vision.

excellent product as due to the slope of my screen the standard fitting put the sat nav too far away for comfortable use, the addition of the mounting plate meant I also have the option to mount it conveniently to hand. Well done

  5. When I orderd the flexible arm extender (ARKON GN042 Garmin Nuvi 8.5-Inch Windshield Suction Gooseneck Mount) I wasn’t sure how it was going to work. BEing the arm is 8.5 inches long & then attaching the GPS to it the weight would make it shake. It is very stable with little vibration. It’s now easier to reach without stretching all the way tot he window. I installed it in my wifes Honda CRV & was also concerned about the suction. Would it hold to the window or fall off? Again surprised it hold well & has been up for weeks in frigd temperature & hasn’t come off once. The only issue I had was it was difficult to bend & I was afraid of forcing it. However, we were was able to bend & shape the mount.

Needless to say I am very pleased with this purchase.
