I have never had a GPS unit before, so this one is a first for me. We will use it mostly when traveling, but I’ve been playing with it alot in town since I received it. The voice is clear and easy to understand, and the maps are easy to use. I was frustrated that a detailed users manual was not included in the box, but found it here as a PDF. I’m quite excited about my new “toy.”

In the display photos, there appears a very nice carry case (red lining interior) and storage for both the unit and cords. Its one of the features that ‘coaxed’ me into picking this specific Nuvi ensemble. Was very disappointed that this is not included in the purchase – even though it is prominenly displayed (why have that particular photo in the series therefore?? – since other photos already show the unit itself, etc). Then…when I went back to the web page and scrolled way way down to the “what’s in the box” section – I realized of course what a deceptive practice I had fallen victim to. Doesn’t make me think less of Garmin – but does leave a terrible and unecessary (and avoidable) bad taste in my mouth vis-a-vis Amazon and its partners – and the depceptive selling practice that seems to be allowed. The Garmin Nuvi 1350 has great features. While on the road out of state, we stopped to program in an address. We had to try and try to get the unit to accept “done”. The supplier wants us to return the unit and I will try another because of the features and ease of use.
I contacted Garmin and they described how to recalibrate the unit. After recalibrating it works well and I am happy.

I find my unit works fairly well. It acquires the satellites fairly rapidly and calculates a new course quickly and accurately. However I find that on sunny and hot days the touchscreen is very ‘iffy’ and sometimes inoperable. The other day I had to remove the unit from the dash and let the air conditioner vents blow on the screen until it started working again.
