   This is one of those situations when you have to buy the real thing as a replacement. The original one was working perfectly until my wife borrowed it and her brother’s old minivan’s power receptacle somehow shorted it out. I tried a couple of much cheaper no-brand/off-brand replacement cables — their packages said they were compatible — but they didn’t work at all, or just powered it without recharging it. This Garmin cable works perfectly, recharging the GPS as it powers it.
